The
Colonial Heights Soccer Association
offers two levels of play for
youth:
The
entry level is In house or
Recreation
League beginning at U-5
(under five years of age) through U-16.
Children in this level range from beginners to those who play
for fun and recreation and are learning the skills and rules
associated with the game.
In the younger age divisions, small sided (3 v 3 or 4 v 4)
games are played and score is not kept.
The main emphasis in these divisions is for children to learn
to get along with others and for all to have many ‘touches’ on
the ball.
Good Sportsmanship and the basic fundamentals of the game are
stressed.
All practices and games are played on a centrally located
complex.
Teams are co-ed and are selected to be as even as possible
based on ratings assigned to all players.
In house registration is open to anyone and all players are
provided numbered shirts and socks that are included in the
registration fee.
The
Travel League
level consists of the more advanced and developed players and is the
most competitive.
Children in this level are very dedicated to the sport,
serious about the game and serious about winning.
Emphasis is placed on aggressive play, self motivation to
excel and discipline.
Practices are held at different locations where fields are
available and games are played throughout the state.
Teams are co-ed and girls, tryouts are announced at the
beginning of every seasonal year and the strongest players are
selected by a licensed coach.
Registration fees are higher than Cross Association fees and
full uniforms and equipment are purchased.
Travel teams regularly attend tournaments in and out of
state.
All
Colonial Heights Soccer Association programs are non discriminatory.
In house is open to anyone within age ranges, Cross
Association and Travel selections are made by coaches based on
skill, attitude and potential.
The association provides financial assistance to those who
would not otherwise be able to play.
Colonial Heights Soccer Association provides a scholarship
each year to a graduating senior who has provided services to the
association and the community.
