The
City of Colonial Heights is currently accepting
applications for the following positions:
TELECOMMUNICATOR (DISPATCHER)
– Salary Range: $33,762 – $55,709.
Must be available to
work 12-hour rotating shifts, including nights,
weekends, and holidays. The City of Colonial
Heights is accepting applications to create an
eligibility list of Telecommunicator candidates.
Receives and dispatches messages by radio and
telephone for and to police, fire, EMS and other
operations; operates Computer Aided Dispatch System;
operates computer terminals; performs clerical
duties; and other duties as assigned.
Applicants must be at
least 18 years of age; possess a high school diploma
or equivalent; have at least 3-years of related
experience; ability to type 35 wpm; and successfully
pass all phases of our selection process, which will
include a typing test, background investigation,
medical and drug screening. Experience in
computer-aided dispatch system and enhanced 911 are
preferred. Preference will be given to State
certified candidates.

HORTICULTURIST
– City of Colonial Heights – Salary Range: $33,762 -
$55,709.
Plans and performs landscaping, grounds maintenance
and litter removal from municipal grounds, public
roadways and related facilities. Responsibilities
include performing cultivation, care and maintenance
of flowerbeds, lawns, shrubs, trees and ground
covers; developing maintenance schedules, planting
programs and restorative projects; selecting and
applying appropriate fertilizers, herbicides and
insecticides; purchasing and delivering supplies and
equipment; and maintaining inventory, equipment and
chemical use records.
Must possess an Associate’s Degree or 2-years of
college with at least 5-years of related experience,
or an equivalent combination of education and
experience; pesticide application certification; and
a valid Virginia driver’s license. Prefer Master
Gardener certification or Bachelor’s Degree in
horticulture or related field.
