  RECYCLING CENTER ATTENDANT (Part-time) – Public Works Department – $9.00 per hour (part-time position). 

Must be able to work Fridays & Saturdays; 8 hours per day.  Inspects materials to be dropped at the Recycling Center by residents, ensures the Center is clean and free of clutter around dumpsters, ensures that recyclable items are collected, and addresses public inquires.

Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent with 1-year of work experience.  Pre-employment medical screening and criminal background check required.

 DEPUTY CHIEF OF FIRE & EMS – Fire & EMS Department - Salary Range: $57,523 – $94,915.

¬ PROMOTIONAL OPPORTUNITY ¬

 This recruitment is only open to Fire employees with current Paramedic certification within the Colonial Heights Fire Department

Coordinates and directs the operational components of fire suppression, emergency medical services, and emergency management.  The successful candidate will direct Fire and EMS operations; develop and maintain emergency operations plan; coordinate emergency management with field operations; coordinate the infection control program; develop and present long-range strategic and logistical planning; implement and administer all training programs; address information technology issues; and addresses public inquiries and resolves complaints. 

Applicants must posses a high school diploma or equivalent with over ten years of directly related experience, or two years of college with at least five years of directly related experience.  Paramedic certification required.

  UTILITY HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR (Stormwater) – Public Works Department – Salary Range: $25,863 – $42,677.   

Operates heavy equipment, other vehicles and specialized equipment in the repair, replacement, and maintenance of stormwater facilities and systems, and other Public Works projects. Operates sewer flush and vacuum trucks; digs drainage ditches, and installs drainage culverts.  

Performs other duties as required. Requires a High school diploma or equivalent with 3-years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and possess a valid Virginia Class B Commercial Drivers License (CDL) within 6-months of initial employment.  Pre-employment medical screening and criminal background check required.

  ANIMAL CONTROL AIDE (Part-time) – Police Department – Part-time position: $10.00 per hour (30 hours per week to include weekends). 

Duties: Cleans animal shelter and kennels, feeds animals, keeps records and responds to public inquiries.  Requires general knowledge of the proper treatment and handling of animals; physical condition that permits bending, carrying, walking, heavy lifting, and working in all weather conditions; ability to read, write, and maintain records. 

Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, and successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening and criminal background check.
