POLICE OFFICER (Certified) – Salary Range: $36,000 – $61,789. 

The City of Colonial Heights is accepting applications from candidates that are Virginia DCJS certified Police Officers or certified Police Officers outside of Virginia.  Duties include: enforcing the law, criminal investigations, traffic regulation and control, and the provision of emergency and other services.  Minimum requirements:  Must be a graduate of a certified basic training Police academy; employed as a police officer with a city, town, township, county, or state police agency enforcing local and state ordinances; high school diploma or equivalent; U.S. citizenship; valid Virginia driver's license; no conviction of felonies and/or serious misdemeanors; and successfully pass all phases of our police selection process, which will include a written examination, physical agility test, extensive background investigation, polygraph examination, psychological screening, medical and drug screening.  College coursework in criminal justice or police science is preferred but not required.

The City of Colonial Heights is accepting applications to create an eligibility list of Police Officer Recruit candidates.  Minimum requirements:  High school diploma or equivalent; age 21 at time of appointment; U.S. citizenship; a valid Virginia driver’s license; no conviction of felonies and/or serious misdemeanors; and successfully pass all phases of our police selection process, which will include a written examination, physical agility test, extensive background investigation, polygraph examination, psychological screening, medical and drug screening.  College coursework in criminal justice or police science is preferred but not required.
