Police Department Number 1 in Virginia for Speed
Awareness
The police department received the Virginia Law
Enforcement Challenge 2008 Speed Awareness Award
at the Virginia Chiefs of Police Conference in
Newport News on August 10, 2009. This year, 51 law
enforcement agencies in Virginia competed for the
special award.
 In
addition to the statewide 1st place
Speed Awareness Award, the department
received second place in its law enforcement category
for the 2008 Law Enforcement Challenge.
The Law Enforcement Challenge program promotes
professionalism in traffic safety enforcement and
encourages agencies to share best practices and programs
with each other. The awards are based on entries
prepared by the participating agencies that highlight
traffic safety activities in the past calendar year.
