Certified Officer -
$36,000 to $61,789
Recruit Officer - $32,600 to $61,789
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
All
potential applicants must meet the following criteria:

Be at
least 21 years of age
-
Proportional in height and weight
-
Have
corrected vision of 20/20 or better in each eye
-
Of good
character and reputation
-
Graduated
from an accredited high school or GED certificate, some college
preferred
-
Possess a
valid Virginia operators license
-
In good
physical condition as determined by a physician
-
Successfully complete a written exam, psychological evaluation, physical
agility test, and background investigation.

CAREER SPECIALTY OPPORTUNITIES
Crime Scene Technician
Responsible for the
examination of a crime scene for the purpose of discovery, identifying,
recording, and preservation of physical evidence.

Patrol dog used for
criminal, evidence, drug detection and patrol work.
Major Accident Investigation Team
Assigned the
responsibility of investigating fatal or serious motor vehicle crashes and
provides expert technical assistance to patrol in other motor vehicle
crashes.
DARE
Drug Abuse Resistance
Education
Crime Prevention Officer
Provides training
and education to local businesses and citizens about crime prevention.
Public Information Officer
Prepare and release
information relating to police activities and crimes.
Crimesolvers
Give information
through the news media about current crimes.
Honor Guard Represents the
finest aspects of the department through custom and precision.
