www.colonial-heights.com is the official website of the City of Colonial Heights, Virginia.  The City's Website privacy statement is posted in compliance with the Commonwealth of Virginia's Virginia Privacy Protection Act, Chapter 26 of Title 2.1 of the Code of Virginia.  

The City of Colonial Heights is committed to the principles of fair information practices and may collect and use data concerning visitors to our website only for statistical purposes and to improve the services available to visitors.

Practices and Procedures:

We implement the following practices and procedures when an individual accesses the City's website:

1. We do not use "cookies", a file placed on a visitor's hard drive that allows the website to monitor the individual's use of the site.
      
2. Our website tracks visits to our site for statistical purposes through the collection of the following data:
    
   • The IP address or name of the visitor's Internet provider (domain name, organization name, and country of origin are derived from the IP address)
   • The name and version of the visitor's browser software
   • The address of the site visited previous to entering the City's website

   This data provides us with overall usage statistics and measures user behavior and interest in the various areas of our site.
      

3. No personal information about a visitor is automatically collected when an individual visits the City's website.  Our web pages may offer a visitor the opportunity to ask questions, request information, or provide comment through the use of optional forms or email.  We will only use information from submitted forms and email messages for the reasons the visitor provided it.
      
4. Our website contains links to other external websites.  The City of Colonial Heights is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such websites.
