The
Colonial Heights Public Library is currently the
fifth busiest library among Virginia’s 92 library
systems. Library Director Bruce Hansen credits his friendly staff and
the library’s remarkably diverse collection of
books, audio books, movies, public computers,
virtual library resources and the staff’s quick
response to patron book requests for this
achievement. Residents find the library to be
a small-town place with a staff that enjoys humor,
recognizes patrons by name and quickly responds to
resident requests for books. We are convinced that

Bruce
Hansen has served as the Library Director in
Colonial Heights for over thirty-three years. He
graduated from the University of Florida with a
Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Journalism,
and from Florida State University with a Master of
Library Science degree. He came to his current
position after serving as a research
instructor/librarian at Mary Washington College in
Fredericksburg, Virginia.
