COLONIAL HEIGHTS
SHERIFF
Special
Olympics Motorcycle Ride - May 31, 2008

The Sheriff is a State
Constitutional Officer elected every 4 years by the Citizens.
Colonial Heights' current Sheriff, Todd B. Wilson, was elected for a 4 year term
beginning in 2006. The next election of this office will be in 2009.
The Sheriff's Office
provides courtroom security and prisoner transportation in addition to
serving civil warrants and legal notices, as mandated by the Virginia
Constitution and the Virginia Code. Funding for these services comes from
the City, the State Compensation Board, and from fees collected by the
Sheriff. The Sheriff and deputies also have law enforcement rights
and can make an arrest if necessary.
In addition to the
Sheriff, our office consists of 6 full-time deputy sheriffs, 2 part-time
deputy sheriffs, and one Administrative Assistant.
Effective May 1, 2008, our
office hours are from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
